ConnecTix was designed to offer flexibility for the non-regular rider. This was not thought out through. However, since the Connect Card (and therefore ConnecTix) now is used by other public transit systems, this is something that still must be supported.

Under the ACTA plan, the agency will be able to set what ever conditions they will to impose, and options they wish to support. For Allegheny County, this will be as follows:

  • Only 31 day pass available
  • $1 surcharge added to the pass cost
  • When pass expires, recycle

In other uses, transit assistance programs can issue this in other amounts other than the above to clients who may not have a Connect Card. The above is when a customer is going to a vending system to get a new ConnecTix card.
